Who are we?
Lab director
Pier-Luc de Chantal, PhD
I am a professor in the Department of Psychology at the Université du Québec à Montréal. My interests lie in the vast field of cognitive science, with a particular focus on cognitive psychology and neuroscience.
My previous studies have focused on the interface between critical thinking and creativity. The questions that drive me concern how people use creativity in everyday life to think differently, solve problems, make decisions or even adapt to life's obstacles.
My current research focuses on the cognitive and metacognitive mechanisms underlying creativity and its development from childhood to adulthood. I'm also very interested in the opportunities offered by digital technologies for researching and deepening our knowledge of human cognition.
